Stockley Academy given power to teach by Redstone
Redstone Converged Solutions installs state-of-the-art technology into ground-breaking school
5th March 2007 – Students of Stockley Academy, based in the London Borough of Hillingdon, are reaping the benefits of state-of-the-art technology installed by Redstone Converged Solutions, a leading provider of converged IP solutions. As a result of the new ICT infrastructure, truancy has decreased, exam results have improved, and learning has been made more enjoyable for the students.
Stockley Academy, formerly Evelyns Community School, has seen some radical changes in the last couple of years. The school hit an all time low in 2001 when it was forced into special measures, and those worst affected were the students. An injection of cash from the DfES saw the start of a complete turnaround in the school’s fortunes.
As part of the £26 million project to develop a purpose built ‘intelligent school’, Redstone Converged Solutions has installed and implemented the Academy’s entire ICT infrastructure. Delivered over five phases, the implementation included behind the scenes technology as well as interactive whiteboards, the installation of a cashless vending system, and a photo ID capture system for security purposes and to aid the prevention of truancy.
Fred Groom, principal, Stockley Academy, said: “Stockley Academy has become the heart of this community. We know how lucky we are to have such state-of-the-art facilities to make the teaching and learning process so interactive.”
Paul Kennedy, managing director, Redstone Converged Solutions, said: “Redstone has proven expertise in this area, and it is very satisfying to know that technology has helped this Academy to improve the educational experience of its students. Truancy has decreased, exam results have improved, and learning has been made more interactive and fulfilling.”
Redstone has a strong track record in the education sector, having a number of high profile customers in this area, including: West Sussex LEA, West Berkshire LEA and Southampton City Council.
