Redstone shortlisted for Birmingham BSF

1 AUGUST 2007 - Redstone plc, the national IT and Communications solutions
provider, announces today that as part of a consortium led by Catalyst Lend
Lease & Bovis Lend Lease, it has been shortlisted for the Building Schools for
the Future ("BSF") programme in Birmingham.

The Birmingham BSF project will be responsible for the complete rebuild or
remodel of 75 Birmingham secondary schools (of which some will be Birmingham
Academies) and 14 special secondary schools (including pupil referral units).
The estimated capital value of the project (including Information and
Communication Technology ("ICT")) is £820m.

If successful, Redstone in partnership with the City Council will be supplying a
complete IT & Communications solution that will supply each school with a fully
integrated IP network, communications, IT and e-learning environment. Subject to
Government approval the project will be split into 6 phases, with Phase 1 (10
secondary schools, 1 special secondary school and 1 primary school) starting in
2009 and Phase 2 (13 schools) starting in 2010.

As with the Lancashire BSF project, Redstone's Converged Solutions, Managed
Solutions and Technology Divisions are working to provide a complete integrated
ICT solution for the consortium. It is expected that the preferred bidder will
be announced in May 2008.

Martin Balaam, CEO, Redstone plc, commented, "Being shortlisted for the
Birmingham BSF project shows yet again Redstone's ability to provide integrated
IT & Communications Solutions. Following the successful bid for Lancashire BSF,
which is worth up to £16m for 9 schools, we would be delighted to work on the
redevelopment of Birmingham's 89 schools, one of the largest projects of this
type in the country. However we are aware that there is a distance to go yet and
we will continue our efforts in the build up to next summer's decision."
